Basket made in the early 1920s by a peasant woman in Spa, Belgium. Made from white willow.
This basket was made for the donor’s mother in the early 1920s by a peasant woman in Spa, Belgium when she heard of her interest in basketwork. It is made from white willow from the woods behind the woman’s cottage which she gathered, peeled and split with a knife. It is a small, oval frame basket, based on two hoops, with a handle.
