  • Description
    Bracket for use with rushlights and candles. Suspended by the hook and the height of the light adjusted by the sliding the rod with the socket.
    This iron bracket is designed to be used with rushlights and candles. It would be hung up by the hook at the top and the height of the light adjusted by the sliding the rod with the socket up and down. Nothing is known about its origin.

  • Archival history
    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'Nothing is known of the origin of this bracket. It is designed to be used for rushlights and candles. It is a pendant holder which would be hung up by the hook at the top and the height of the light adjusted by sliding the rod carrying the rushlight and candles sockets up and down. The rod is held in place by a friction spring attached to the main upright. The bracket is made of iron and is 42 inches in length when fully extended. The rush clip is attached to the bottom of the rod by one arm, and the candle socket terminates the other arm.
