    The donor's family has been established in the Wolverley area of co. Worcester since 1540. The donor's paternal grandmother began to keep the earliest of the account books described on the death of her husband and while her son, S.E. Pitt, was serving in the South African War. S.R. Pitt, the donor's father, continued to farm on a small scale, specialising in chickens and eggs, until his death in the 1950's. The family occupied Blakeshall Farm from 1901-1904; Coney Greeh Farm from 1904-1914; Little Lodge Farm from 1914-1927, Pinnock Farm from 1927-1942 and a small holding near Banbury from 1942 Farm size, etc. Blakeshall Farm: not known; Coney Green Farm : about 200 acres; sandy soils; tenant-occupier; Little Lodge Farm : heavy soils; tenant-occupier; Pinnock Farm : light soils; owner-occupier
