    John James occupied Hailes Farm up to 1894 - 1895, although at some stage he moved to Mickleton, co. Gloucester for reasons of health, leaving a foreman in charge. John James took over Whitchurch Farm, in 1895 after relinquishing his holding at Didbrook. His son Alan Maxwell James, who suceeded him at Whitchurch, has now (1966 July) retired and the farm is tenanted by his two younger sons in partnership with him Farm size etc. Didbrook Farm : 370 acres; tenant occupied; Whitchurch Farm: 325 acres; tenant on Alscot Estate, seat at Preston on Stour
