    The Randall family were tenants on the farm in the mid-nineteenth century. The donor's family emigrated from Kilmarnock, co. Ayr in 1889 and a member of the family has occupied the farm ever since. The Watts family were among the first Scots to settle in this area of South Essex. When they took occupation, the farm was in a delapidated condition and the estate of about 8,000 acres was heavily encumbered Farm size etc. 261 acres; medium loam, some light gravels; tenants on Orsett Hall Estate which before 1886 was held by the Wingfield-Baker family and subsequently by the Whitmore family
