    The family of the donor came from Fifeshire to Chorley Manor Farm in about 1900 and practised beef rather than dairy farming. In 1924, the family moved to Field Farm, Burghfield. The husband of the donor took over his father's farm in 1934 and died in 1959. The donor is now (1966 June) tenant in partnership with two sons. She is a member of the Bowden/Bucknell family which moved from Devon at the end of the 19th century. Field Farm is 240 acres of mixed gravel and clay soils and part of the Benyon Estate
