    The accounts were kept by the donor's father, F.E. Talbot. In 1916, after working for A.W. Hall and sons, corn merchants, of Battersea, he took up farming at Hermitage, co. Berks. In the early thirties, at the peak of the depression, he began to explore the possibilities of pork dealing, buying in co. Berks and retailing to London butchers. This business is now (1966 July) extensive. Until recently, the business, carried on by the donor and her husband, was associated with intensive pig fattening at Hermitage, co. Berks and High Wood, Shaw, co. Berks. The family still farms
