The donor's grandfather moved from Ayr to co. Hertford in about 1890. His father occupied Fullamoor Farm near Abingdon, co. Berkshire from 1897 to 1914 and all of his four uncles took up farming in co. Hertford and co. Essex. The donor's mother, Agnes Crawford, was the daughter of John Speir (1850-1910), the noted agriculturist of Newton Farm, Cambuslang, near Glasgow Farm size etc. 328 acres; medium loam; tenants to Lord Aldenham
