The donor was originally a haulage contractor dealing in live cattle. He took over Rainsford Farm in 1937 and began with milk production. Since 1937 he has gradually accumulated small farms in the vicinity. The present holding is 200 acres, used for milk and calf production, sow rearing and barley growing.
