The donor's family has long been established in co, Berks. His grandfather occupied Home Farm, Bladon, co. Oxford, in about 1880, as tenant to Lord Randolph Churchill. The donor's father moved to Lyford, co. Berks in about 1909 and in 1930 moved to Brightwell, co. Berks, where he bought Sherwood House and three farms which covered 365 acres in all
