Statement of responsibility: The Rural Industries Bureau (RIB) was established in 1921 and was funded by the Development Commission. This was a Royal commission to administer the Development Fund for the rural economy of England given by the Government. The RIB merged with the Rural Industries Loan Fund to form The Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas (CoSIRA). CoSIRA was then amalgamated with The Development Commission to form the Rural Development Commission in 1988. The Rural Development Council merged with the Countryside Commission in 1999, becoming the Countryside Agency
