Karen is a career winner!

Karen Ferrett receiving her prize from Brian O’Callaghan, Head of the University's School of Continuing Education.A Careers Adviser from Oxford Brookes University has won an award for outstanding achievement on a career guidance course only offered by the University of Reading.

Karen Ferrett received the John Roberts Prize for Professional Achievement at the Association of Graduate Careers Advisers (AGCAS) Biennial Conference held in Birmingham. Each year the University nominates a student for the award, who showed exceptional skills on the joint University of Reading/AGCAS Continuing Professional Course.

The University is the sole provider for the Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and MA in Career Education Information and Guidance in Higher Education for careers professionals based at universities in the UK and Ireland.

The courses are designed to integrate cutting edge theory and practice in the emerging field of career studies, and support the development of careers work as a research-based profession.

"Career education and guidance is growing in significance and the University of Reading is extremely proud to provide this unique opportunity for further professional development," said Programme Director Phil McCash. "Many congratulations to Karen. She worked extremely hard and fully deserves her award."

The programme is provided through a groundbreaking partnership between employers, AGCAS and the University's School of Continuing Education.
