Reading confirmed as one of the top 200 universities in the world

Release Date : 08 September 2010

The University of Reading has once again been ranked in the top 200 universities in the world, according to the QS World University Rankings published today, 8 September.

The University's position has improved to 185th, six places higher than last year. The main component of the rankings is the reputation of the university among academics worldwide, which accounts for 40% of the weighting in the rankings.

Reading scores well (165th) in the employer reputation element of the rankings, with employers rating the University's graduates highly for their employability.

Reading ranks within the world top 100 for its international culture, with the proportion of international students and teaching staff attracted to work and study at the university an important factor in the rankings.

Being ranked in the top 200, places Reading in the world's top 2.5% of higher education institutions. UNESCO calculate that there are over 9000 universities across the world.

The QS World University Rankings have been running since 2004 and are amongst the highest profile global evaluations of comparative university quality.
