Visit from Wenzhou Peoples Congress
The Vice Chancellor was delighted to welcome the delegation, who were visiting Reading to strengthen the existing relationship between Wenzhou Education Bureau and explore new areas of collaboration between Reading town and University of Reading.

In July we were pleased to welcome our colleages from Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) with whom we operate an MSc Informatics which is delivered entirely at BIT's campus in Beijing.

Visit from Universiti Putra Malaysia
On the 24th March the University welcomed esteemed visitors from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia's leading research university.
Prof. Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha R. Abdullah, Vice Chancellor of UPM and his senior colleagues met Prof. Gordon Marshall, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Richard Ellis, Dean of Life Sciences and Prof. John Hendry Deputy Dean of Henley Business School to discuss how the relationship between the two Institutions could be further developed, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in December 2008.
UPM's Graduate School of Management has recently been recognised as the 'Top Business School in Malaysia' by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Seri Khaled Nordin. UPM also has a world leading reputation for research in tropical agriculture and biosciences.

Visit from China Agricultural University
The 11th November saw the coming together of two Universities with long histories of world class agricultural research. Staff from the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development and the School of Chemistry, Food Biosciences and Pharmacy met with Prof. Dr. SUN Qixin, Vice President of Research and International Collaboration of CAU and Prof. MENG Fanxi, Dean, CAU International College at Beijing.
The University has a long-standing relationship with CAU and signed a Memoradum of Understanding outlining areas of potential cooperation in November 2007. This visit allowed key personnel from both institutions to meet and discuss the details of future collaboration.

New partnership with University of Agriculture, Faislabad, Pakistan
Prof. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Faislabad (UAF), the premier agricultural science institution in Pakistan, visited the University on 22 October to discuss how our two institutions might work more closely together.
The School of Agriculture, Policy and Development has a long standing research relationship with UAF and both parties were keen to formalise their relationship with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tony Downes signed the Memorandum on behalf of the University.

MSc collaboration with Perm State University, Russia
As a result of a successful bid under the British Council British Degrees in Russia (BRIDGE) programme the University, is working with Perm State University in Russia to deliver a parallel degree programme. Students will begin their studies in Perm, transfer to Reading to take the MSc in Computational Science, then return to Perm to complete their studies. Students will receive qualifications from both universities. The first students will begin their studies at Reading in October.
