The purpose of this course is to look at the work of some of the key landscape artists from Turner to the present day and to draw on the work of geographers, literary critics and cultural historians to develop interdisciplinary methods of analysis.

Content

The unit will not be a historical survey, but will rather look at key landscape artists such as Constable and Nash, drawing on the innovative art historical writing of Barrell, Rosenthal, Solkin and Bermingham.   It will also look at contemporary landscape artists, such as Richard Long and Fay Godwin.
