The University Health Service, which provides a comprehensive medical service for students, is housed in a purpose-built Health Centre, providing full general practitioner care as well as Nurse at the University Health Centre in-patient and nursing facilities. Students who are taken ill during term may be admitted to the Health Centre and cared for until they are well. A fully-staffed dental service is also provided under the National Health Service. A small annual fee is payable by all full-time students and enables them to use those in-patient and nursing facilities provided by the Centre which are additional to the general practitioner service available to all visiting students under the National Health Services.

EU Students

EU students can normally obtain free treatment from the University Health Service and if necessary from hospitals and doctors under the British National Health Service and if necessary from hospitals and doctors under the British National Health Service. You should obtain form E112 or E128 before leaving home. There are charges for prescriptions, dental work and spectacles. If you are here for less than six months you cannot pre-register but in the case of emergency you can go direct to the Health Centre or to any doctor. If you are here for six months or more you must register on arrival with the Health Centre or any doctor.

JYA Students

JYA students are eligible for emergency NHS Health Care ONLY if your stay is 6 months. Students studying for one term should arrange their own medical insurance - we strongly recommend you seek advice before leaving home. Medical Insurance is the responsibility of the student.
