On arrival you will probably wish to open a British bank account. Major British Banks, such as Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds TSB and National Westminster have many branches and all offer similar services at similar charges.

There is Lloyds TSB on campus, but your own bank may have a special relationship with a particular bank in England and you may prefer a bank near where you will live. We suggest you discuss arrangements with your bank at home before you leave.

Banks tend to be open Monday to Friday, 09.30 to 15.30, whilst some stay open until 17.30. A few open for some services on Saturday morning. Cash machines are widely available

To open an account you will require a letter from the University, a letter addressed to your local residence and a letter stating your home address. Please contact International & Study Abroad Office for further details.
