Halls of Residence
The
University of Reading prides itself on being a
residential University where a large number of students live in the thirteen
Halls and in Hillside Court student housing. A wide range of accommodation is
available - from a self-catered room with shared bathroom facilities to an en
suite, fully-catered room. The Reading
International Office will
allocate your rooms to you.
Fully Catered accommodation:
Most Halls of Residence offer
fully catered facilities with 19 meals per week (3 meals a day during the week, 2
on the weekend). Packed lunches are sometimes
available on request for students who are unable to return to Hall for lunch.
Fully catered Halls are offered
on a 30-week contract. If you require vacation accommodation you will need to
arrange this direct with the Hall – extra fees will be payable.
Self Catered
accommodation:
Self-catering
halls are only available to full year students who are prepared to sign a
39-week contract. This will enable you to remain in your room during the
Christmas and Easter vacations.
However, there will be only one opportunity to terminate your Hall agreement in November 2005
(this date will be stated in your Hall Contract). Failure to submit your
intention to leave by this date will result in you being liable for Hall fees
until the end of the academic year, unless another student can be found to move
into your room.
Students who withdraw from the University during the academic
year will be required to give two weeks written notice to both their Hall and
the I Reading International Office.
