Vehicle Hire Insurance
Under our new insurance arrangements for motor insurance, hired vehicles are
not covered. It is, however, possible for these vehicles to be covered by our
insurance and the charges for the insurance year 1 August 2004 to 31 July 2005
are as follows:
1-3 days £10.50
4-7 days £21.00
8-14 days £36.75
Up to 1 month £78.75
Over 1 month upon application
The above rates apply to all hire of cars, light vans, minibuses but clearly not HGVs.
You can, of course, take the hire company insurance if you wish. There is no compulsion to use the University’s insurers.
If you decide to use this service, you will need to email
insurance@reading.ac.uk with the hire dates, name of school/department, and account code and project code to which you wish the charge to be made.
