Students

Placements

We offer placements for University students as part of their course. Those interested should talk to the appropriate person within their department regarding a placement at The MERL.

Internships

Occasionally, we are able to offer paid internships the Museum and Special Collections. These are usually externally funded. When we do have internships available, we promote them here and through other outlets.

Student explainers

We will be recruiting and training our first student explainers at the beginning of the Autumn term. Student explainers will be in the galleries to enhance the visitor's experience and to provide a more memorable visit.

Work experience

We can offer up to a week of work experience to pupils from surrounding schools and colleges. Work experience usually involves a series of taster sessions throughout the museum and archives.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact Rob Davies at r.j.davies@reading.ac.uk for further details.
