BA Philosophy and German
Description:
This course will provide you with an in-depth understanding both of the society and culture of Germany and of crucial features of philosophical enquiry. You will also acquire a high level of competence in German language, and you will spend the third year studying or working in Germany or Austria.
In particular you will obtain:
- knowledge and understanding of a range of topics in the politics, history and culture of Germany (and Austria)
- a high level of competence in understanding, speaking and writing German
- an understanding of central philosophical problems, texts and figures,and of concepts essential for philosophical investigation
- critical awareness of fundamental beliefs about truth and reality, right and wrong
- familiarity with contemporary German or Austrian society and politics through spending the third year abroad
