BA Philosophy and German

Description:
This course will provide you with an in-depth understanding both of the society and culture of Germany and of crucial features of philosophical enquiry. You will also acquire a high level of competence in German language, and you will spend the third year studying or working in Germany or Austria.

In particular you will obtain:

  • knowledge and understanding of a range of topics in the politics, history and culture of Germany (and Austria)
  • a high level of competence in understanding, speaking and writing German
  • an understanding of central philosophical problems, texts and figures,and of concepts essential for philosophical investigation
  • critical awareness of fundamental beliefs about truth and reality, right and wrong
  • familiarity with contemporary German or Austrian society and politics through spending the third year abroad

UCAS Tariff:

ABB/AAC from three A level subjects.Total points exclude Key Skills and General Studies.

Subjects: Candidates must have a grade B at A level or grade A* at GCSE German or other Modern Language Language.

International Baccalaureate: Pass Diploma and achieve 6,6,5 in three higher level subjects and minimum grade 5 in standard level German
