This degree programme is designed to prepare graduates for responsible and professional managerial roles in both the public and private sectors. Graduates enter careers in marketing, banking and finance, consultancies, management accountancy, the civil service, retailing and other service industries. You will gain a strong grounding in the functional areas of business and explore the key themes and emerging challenges facing business in a global context. This encompasses both the 'internal' environment of the firm- such as human resources, organisational behaviour and utilising financial and accounting information, ethical management, IT management and entrepreneurship - and the 'external' environment - such as markets, marketing, strategy, corporate finance, corporate social responsibility, the cultural context in which firms operate and entrepreneurial direction. You will also develop a high level of understanding of your chosen country's written and spoken language and gain a deep understanding of the country's culture and business practices, further reinforcing the international nature of this programme. Multilingual graduates are highly sought after by organisations operating internationally due to an increasingly globalised business world. Graduates will find themselves more career mobile and better prepared to work in a multinational environment, and possess language and communication skills that will differentiate them from many other professionals. In the first year you will study modules in marketing and strategy, organisational behaviour and culture, business statistics and enterprise, alongside modules focused on your chosen country's language and culture. In the second year, modules include finance, marketing management and business strategy, alongside a focus on your chosen country's language and culture specifically in the context of management. In the third year you will enjoy the opportunity to undertake a one year work placement or university study abroad at one of our partner institutions. This experience will significantly enhance your CV and future graduate employment prospects, help you to build a professional network and provide a valuable opportunity to apply and further develop your knowledge and skills. In the fourth and final year there are no core modules which focus on business and management. You will instead examine areas already studied at a more advanced level and select from a wide range of optional modules, allowing you to tailor your degree programme to suit your individual interests and ambitions. These modules will be taken alongside core modules providing a more advanced study of your chosen country's language and culture.
