BA French Studies and English Language

Description:
This degree is the ideal choice if you are interested in language, its uses and varieties, and if you are considering a career working with languages or as a language teacher in the UK or abroad. Students taking this combined degree can choose modules from French Studies in translation and French for Managers as well as ones focusing on aspects of the culture of other Francophone countries in the Caribbean and North Africa.

France in the Age of Revolutions
19th - 20th Century French novel

French for Managers

In English Language, 1 module chosen from a list of topics including:
Child Language Development
Language and Gender
From Saxons to Shakespeare
Approaches to Spoken Discourse

Year 3 (spent abroad in a French-speaking country)

You will have the option to spend the year:
-studying at a French or French-speaking university (including Montreal or Quebec)
-OR as a teaching assistant at a French school
-OR on a work placement with a French firm

Year 4

UCAS Tariff:

BBB/ABC from three A level subjects. Total points exclude Key Skills and General Studies. The total must include A level French at a grade B or A* at GCSE  and A level English Literature and Language at a grade B.

International Baccalaureate: Pass Diploma and achieve 6,5,5 in three higher level subjects including French, and English Language/Literature or combined
