BA Ancient History and History

The cultures of Greece and Rome lie at the heart of Western civilisation, and resonate throughout the world. Whether you already have some familiarity with the ancient world or not, we welcome you to study the fascinating history, literature, culture and art of two societies that have done much to shape our own. The Department of Classics provides a range of stimulating and challenging courses for students from a wide variety of backgrounds, and we regularly update our provision to embrace new approaches to the ancient world.

Description:
This joint degree aism to provide a thorough degree level education in History and Ancient History. The syllabus aims to famliarise students with the core chronological and geographical range of Greek and Roman cultures, and to explore the broad sweep of post-classical history through study of Britain, Europe and the United States. Students are also able to study thematic topics in depth and develop special interests through independent study and dissertation.

UCAS Tariff: ABB/AAC from three A level subjects - including minimum grade B in History A level. Total points exclude Key Skills and General Studies.

International Baccalaureate: 6,6,5 from three higher level subjects including History.

Mature applicants are warmly welcomed.
