Undergraduate Fees

All the fees outlined below are for entrants in the academic year 2012-2013 only.

PLEASE NOTE: All fees are set for one year only.

UK/EU students

The tuition fee for 2012-2013 will be £9,000.
The tuition fee is likely to rise in line with inflation in later years, subject to government policy.

Payment of this fee can be deferred, by means of a tuition fee loan, until after you have finished at university and are earning at least £21,000 (or equivalent) per year.

STUDYING/WORKING AWAY FROM READING

Year Abroad Fees

Some programmes include an optional or required year abroad studying at a host University, working abroad or undertaking a combination of the two. For students starting in 2012-13 and going on their year abroad in 2014-15, a discounted fee of 15% of the normal tuition fee (either at Home/EU or at International level) is payable to the University of Reading for this year abroad and no fee is paid to the host University abroad. This applies only to situations where the full year is spent abroad. Where only a part of the year is spent abroad the full tuition fee is payable to the University of Reading as normal.

Currently Home/EU fee paying students who spend their year abroad within the ERASMUS Scheme are eligible for the ERASMUS fee waiver which covers the entire fee. However, this fee waiver is reviewed annually by the UK government and is widely expected to be withdrawn for students entering their programmes in 2012/13. If it is not withdrawn Home/EU fee paying students will be able to draw on the fee waiver to cover some or all of the discounted fee.

Placement/Sandwich year Fees

Some programmes include an optional or required placement year. A discounted fee of 15% of the normal tuition fee (either at Home/EU or at International level) is payable to the University of Reading for this year (i.e. 2014-15 if starting course in 2012-13). The discounted fee only applies to situations where the full year is spent on placement. Where only a part of the year is spent on placement the full tuition fee is payable to the University of Reading as normal.

Please note: Students currently enrolled on a course of study will pay a different fee - contact the Student Helpdesk or Student Financial Support in the Carrington Building for further information.

BSc in Speech and Language Therapy

In 2011 the NHS funded a specific number of places on this programme and paid the tuition fees for UK or EU students accepted onto it.  At present we expect the same arrangement to continue into 2012.  UK students based in England or Wales can apply for a means-tested NHS Bursary to help with living or travel costs.  Students are also eligible for a reduced, fixed amount loan provided by the Student Loans Company
