We offer a number of short courses and public programmes aimed a wide range of people. Whether you're looking to develop your professional skills, learn a new language or further your passion for a particular subject, we can provide you with the high-quality learning environment and experienced staff you need to excel.

Public Programmes

If you're looking to further your knowledge of a particular subject or want to learn something new altogether, then you should consider taking part in one of the many public programmes available at the University. These courses are regularly provided by the University of Oxford at our Whiteknights campus in Reading.

Courses are available in the following subject areas: Archaeology, Art History, Biological Sciences, Creative Writing, Film Studies, History and Politics, Literature, Local and Social History, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Physical Sciences, Psychology and Counselling and Religious Studies

Public Programmes - Modern Languages

Do you need to learn a new language for you career? Have you always dreamed of being able to communicate fluently in another language? Through the University of Oxford and the University of Reading, you can make this a reality. We are able to offer you a wide range of courses in modern languages, whether you're starting off for the first time or already have a reasonable knowledge of your chosen language. These collaboratively taught programmes are taught by Reading staff on the University's Whiteknights campus.

Courses are available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Day Schools

The University regularly runs Day Schools covering a variety of themes, all of which are connected to the University's Museums and Special Collections. For further details please visit the Day schools website.

The University of Reading has an extensive programme of public events, which include our Public Lecture Series, lectures in Reading town hall and regular music concerts in the Great Hall. The University of Warwick's Centre for Lifelong Learning offers the following programmes, previously offered by the University of Reading:

Professional Development & Short Courses

Many of our Masters programmes are in areas with direct relevance for particular professions and careers, and are offered on both a full-time and a part-time basis. We offer other taught postgraduate programmes to meet the needs of particular applicants.

The University also offers a range of Short Courses for professional development in various subjects. The modular nature of our taught postgraduate programmes allows us to be responsive to your specialist needs. These Short Courses are usually structured on a flexible basis, ranging from half-day seminars or courses held over a number of weeks, to week-long blocks of study, and to open and distance learning programmes. The possibilities on offer include specialist courses for those looking to acquire a particular skill and taster courses for those who would simply like to find out more about a particular subject area. Courses can often be tailored to meet the needs of the client and can be held at the University's residential training centre or on company sites.
