What attracted you to the University of Reading?

Many factors attracted me to the University of Reading but the main factors are that it is a top ranked university for research in the whole of UK giving my degree study a good reputation. Reading is also a vibrant city with a rich history and culture. Most of all its location just outside London and close to Oxford makes it an ideal hub for employers while at the same time being a cheaper and affordable city. Additionally, the University of Reading has a large international student population making it diverse and ideal for any international student. Lastly, I was awarded a full scholarship, something very rare to find; a UK university awarding scholarships to international students.

What do you enjoy most about studying at the University or Reading?

The vast range of modern studying facilities located primarily on one large campus makes it easy to use and convenient. Additionally, there is tremendous academic support offered by the academic staff ranging from very efficient small group tutorials, personal tutor meetings to adequate avenues for academic advice making learning much easier and enjoyable. Lastly, the career support is great ranging from career talks and CV advice to career fairs held every term where students get to meet employers making it easier to get work experience and a chance to put learning into practise.

What do you enjoy most about student life in Reading?

The University of Reading is in a beautiful campus and life in halls is an amazing experience where you get to interact with hundreds of students and make plenty of long term friends. Additionally, the vast range of student societies and sports available makes student life more enriching and enjoyable.

Have you experienced any difficulties?

Ironically, I found it difficult to balance between my studies and student activities due to the many opportunities available. I was able to overcome this by choosing to drop some less important activities.

Have you got any advice for future students?

Do join any society and sports club on offer as it is the best way to meet other students and also gain valuable experience. There are many extra curricula activities available so there is certainly something offered that you would like!
