MSc Rural Land and Business Management

Full-time 12 months

This programme is a blend of theory and practice, and offers the student the opportunity to develop rural business skills alongside a greater understanding of rural enterprise in the United Kingdom.
Modular in nature, the programme combines academic study with professional application, and draws heavily on case study experience. The programme is primarily aimed at those wishing to embark on careers in rural surveying or estate management and is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Programme Content

Core Modules:
Students take compulsory modules in Land Market and and Valuation, Property and Business Taxation, Rural Property Law, Management Case Studies and Rural Policy and Planning.
Additionally all students complete a dissertation, and attend a European Study tour.

Option modules:
Students take optional modules chosen from a range of subjects including: Rural Diversification, Woodland Management, Human Resource Management and Advanced Marketing.

Entry Requirements :

UK students must possess  a good first degree in a cognate subject:Agriculture, Agricultural Business Management, Agricultural Economics, Rural Resource Science or Management, or any other related discipline. EU and international applicants must demonstrate an upper quartile performance in a similar discipline from an internationally recognised University, plus English language ability at a proven level, at least equivalent to IELTS 6.5.

Relevant practical experience is useful but not essential.
