MSc Rural Land and Business Management

This programme is a blend of theory and practice, and offers the student the opportunity to develop rural business skills alongside a greater understanding of rural enterprise in the United Kingdom.
Modular in nature, the programme combines academic study with professional application, and draws heavily on case study experience.
The programme is run jointly with the University's School of Agriculture, Policy and Development and offers two distinct pathways, aimed at those wishing to embark on careers in either rural surveying or agri-business management. The surveying pathway is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Programme Content
Core Modules: Surveying pathway - Land Market and Valuation, Property and Business Taxation, Rural Property Law, Management Case Studies and Rural Policy and Planning.
Agriculture pathway - Principles of Business Economics, Human Resource Management, Advanced Marketing and Food Industry Analysis.
Additionally all students complete a dissertation, and attend a European Study tour.
Option modules: Two optional modules chosen from a range of subjects including: any module not taken as 'core', Entrepreneurship and Business Diversification, Rural Policy and Planning and Woodland Management.
