Pre-sessional English Language programme

Duration

Full-time 5, 8, 10, 20, 30 or 40 weeks, depending on English language level.

From October to September each year, CALS offers the full-time Pre-sessional programme, which incorporates academic English language and study skills. This programme is suitable for international students at pre-foundation, pre-undergraduate or pre-postgraduate level requiring an extended period of language and study skills improvement. These courses help students whose first language is not English to meet the language requirements needed before beginning full-time subject study at the University of Reading, as stated on conditional offer letters.

Programme Content :

In preparation for academic study at university, all students are supported in developing their English language competence in reading, writing, listening, speaking and study skills. As soon as they reach an appropriate level, students are offered guidance in writing an extended essay or project in their own subject area, through both classwork and individual tutorial support.
