GARPS is a very active club, its members enjoying a vast variety of events, both one-off and persistent ones. Here's a brief (and sadly incomplete) list of the events that have been run in the past.

Got an idea for an event? Talk to the Executive!

End of Term (anti)Social

Friday 14th March, 7pm, The Nob
It was a chance to kick back and relax after all the essays and dissertations were in. It was a time to meet people you hadn't seen in ages. The usual bunch were there, skulking in the corners and Richard projecting coversation across the pub! A few travelled on down to the After Dark for some boogeying after and a good time was had by all.

Call of Cthulhu Live - Two

Friday 7th March, 2K3. 8pm HumSS.
Promo:
You are cordially invited by Dr B Masterson the famed collector of Occult items to join him on the Steamship Gigantic for an auction of items of Occult significance. There will be approximately ten lots of various items including, A Hand of Glory (reputed to be made from the hand of the famed Sweeney Todd), the Flame of Prometheus, and one part of the Pentagonal Tablet of Hsang. Once the auction is completed there will be plenty of time to meet with other people from the occult world.
Report (By Crystal):
From what I can gather: An auction of occult items took place. People bought them, people buggered other people around by bidding up. Then people tried to get hold of other items that had been bought off other people. Tim didn't get naked. Yay! Then there was a big gunfight - a stand-offy type effort. John should learn that if you move, you can't shoot your gun. Bugger. Beatrice turned into a tree, the sisterhood of shab-thingy won. Everyone had a nice time. I got lots of money, Dave's got a bad memory and we have two new members!

Pub Crawl

Monday 17 Jan, 2K3. 7pm Lyndhurst.
The idea was original, get a load of people together and get them pissed. The merry band began in the Nob at 6:30 and at the arrival of the VP, they shuffled off down the Lyndhurst. A few Rock Soc people decided to turn up at this point. Craig worked hard to plummet the tone of the evening while the rest fought for some semblance of taste. A few more beers downed, a few more GARPS types arrived and they were off to the Back of Beyond at which point they lost the VP (how careless). Typical. After the BOB, the Hogshead was the next stop. The group split and they lost some Rock Soc people but managed to ensnare Duncan. Splendid. The last pub was the Hobgoblin, with all of its booth joyfulness, the VP trying her hardest to keep the group together. The Fez landing was made at 2300hrs, local, where live bands and the usual Brad-set punctuated the night which ended with the Fez closing at 2am. A great night had by all. Photos would have been taken but then most of the GARPS / Rock Soc people don't show up on film.

Demo Night

Friday 31st Jan, 2K3. HumSS JCR.
Numerous games run in a one-off style. Games included Void, Zombie, Settlers of Catan and Heroclix.

Battle Chess

Monday 27 Jan, 2K3. Outside Union.
A joint venture with the Chess club, the chess club provided players while we provided the pieces. Some wonderful ham acting and Live Roleplay style fighting gave chess something of an edge!

Vampire LARP

Friday 24 January 2K3, HumSS
This, from the VP, pretty much says it all: "i would have to staple my left hand to my forehead and wail 'Oh, the angst', over and over again!"

Cthulhu Video Evening

2k3. HUMSS 27.
Reliving the horror that was the Cthulhu live action night through the medium of film. Then much watching of silly clips off the net! (Recomend buffy and jack black's lord of the rings)

Cthulhu Live Action

Friday 6th December 2K2. HumSS.
A night of laughs, fear, pain and monsters winning for most of it. Players get their kit off and other are disarmed by the bad guys. Great night had by all. So good, they made it into a film.

Tavern Night

Friday 15th November 2K2. Richard Crookes' House
The usual LARP event with added alcohol.

Nob Social

Friday 25th October 2K2, Queen's Head
A nice little get together to play some games at the University's local. Games played were very much down the vein of Munchkin and Monopoly. Beers were drunk and so were they.
