The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences is home to two NHS-partnered clinics as well as an independent autism centre.
Our public-facing clinics not only enrich our School’s teaching and research but help provide invaluable support and treatment to the local community.
Our School plays a leading role in the interdisciplinary Centre for Literacy and Multilingualism (CeLM). CeLM brings together linguists, psychologists, neuroscientists, and educationalists across the University.
Its mission is to investigate language, literacy, and multilingualism across the lifespan, and to engage with practitioners and the general public in the co-creation and dissemination of research.
Researchers at the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN) use multi-modal imaging and high-level computational modelling to improve our understanding of human cognition.
Equipped with modern neuroimaging facilities, we are helping develop new ways of dealing with global challenges such as autism, obesity and cognitive decline.
We are proud to work alongside researchers across the University of Reading as part of the Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health (IFNH).
As part of the IFNH, our School is exploring how diet affects cognition and mental health across the life span, as well as how we can influence behaviour to encourage people to eat healthier.
Students within the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences benefit from studying within an active clinical environment. Research from our clinics and centres ensures that students are informed of the latest theories and practice in clinical psychology.
Psychology and speech and language therapy students also have the option to carry out placements in our clinics and gain hands-on experience.
