Speech and Language Therapy Services

The University of Reading has an excellent international and national reputation for training speech and language therapy students for over 40 years.  We have a modern onsite purpose built clinic which enables us to run teaching and placement clinics and to contribute to research. We are able to see both adult and paediatric client groups with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties.

Our independent clinics are free and are run at set times within the University academic year.  There is always student involvement, ranging from observation to taking responsibility for a small caseload. Students are always working under the supervision of highly experienced speech and language therapists. We ask for consent to make recordings of sessions for teaching purposes. We will ask if you wish to volunteer in any relevant research projects and if you wish to be included on a research database.   

We also work collaboratively with Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Berkshire Hospital.  We host an NHS paediatric disorders of fluency service and provide a NHS community clinic service for adults with acquired communication disorders and adults with voice problems. 

 

 

How to find us

The speech and language therapy clinic is based in the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences. Access the campus via the Early Gate Entrance and the entrance to the Psychology building is located in Carpark 25. Click here for the campus map and directions.

There are designated parking bays at the front of the building.

Please collect a parking permit from reception on arrival.
