Kephisodotos should not be a problem. 1 was early c4th and did the
Eirene & Ploutos mentioned by Pliny, of which copies survive. He
was father of Praxiteles. 2 was late c4th, 1's grandson and son
of Praxiteles. He is said to have worked often along with his
younger brother Timarchos - hence I suspect the fiction that there
were two brothers of the same name. This Kephisodotos also had a
son Praxiteles to whom those who don't like the Hermes at Olympia
as a work of the great Praxiteles ascribe that statue.. All this
is in the new (1996) edn of the Oxford Classical Dictionary! (sv
Cephisodotus - articles by AF Stewart and the same in more detail
will be found in his "Greek Sculpture" (Yale 1990) at the page and
fig refs given in OCD!
