Postgraduate research

At the School of Languages and European Studies we offer two streams of postgraduate research, Applied Linguistics and Modern Languages.

• Applied Linguistics covers a number of areas within Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching including, second language learning, computer-based approaches to language research, sociolinguistics and discourse.
• Modern Languages offers research opportunities in French, German and Italian studies and opportunities for collaborative study through the university research theme Modern European Histories and Cultures.
