Milk:
Dairying
in Britain has a long history dating back at least several thousand years.
Sheep and goats were the first milk providers, superseded by cows by the
end of the 16th century. Their milk was obtained via hand milking, a process
slowly replaced by labour saving milking machines from the early 20th
century onwards.
