Pre-sessional: about Reading
Reading is situated about 60 kilometres west of London, with a direct 30-minute connection by train to London Paddington, and only 40 minutes by car or bus from Heathrow Airport. A vibrant, dynamic town, with excellent entertainment, sports and shopping facilities, it has a Premiership football team and every year hosts the Reading Festival, one of the major summer music festivals in the UK.
The main University campus is situated only 15 minutes by bus from the centre of Reading, in an attractive and quiet part of the town. The campus has wonderful green spaces, parkland, providing a beautiful environment in which to live and study.
We find that students make the most progress when they achieve the right balance between study and relaxation. We provide a programme of events, including sports, films and parties, so that students can meet one another, make friends and relax. We also organise a programme of visits to other cities or towns of interest, such as London, Oxford, Windsor, Bath, Brighton, Salisbury and Portsmouth, for those who would like to learn more about British culture and history.
The University also has an excellent range of sports and other entertainment facilities to which pre-sessional students have full access.
