Areas of interest

I enjoy teaching all the skills of English and am particularly interested in helping students to improve their speaking and their writing.

Background

I have worked in education since 2000. Before joining the University of Reading in 2007, I worked at Thames Valley University as an ESOL and short courses tutor, and in Dublin as an English teacher. I earned my MA English Language Teaching from the University of Reading in 2004-5.

As I am originally from South Africa and completed my earlier degrees there, I can understand many of the problems experienced by international students when studying at English universities. I have recently taken on the role of acting co-Summer Programme Director for and have joint academic and operational oversight of the Summer Programme 2022.
