This study aims to explore how the consumption of foods which enhance the growth of friendly gut bacteria (such as probiotics, prebiotics and plant rich foods high in polyphenols) can influence heart health by changing the makeup of bile acids after 8 weeks.

Changes in the bile acids measured in blood, urine and stool samples will then be related to markers of health, such as blood cholesterol and the body's ability to handle sugar.

Eligibility - Men and Women between 25 and 70 years old, who are non -smokers, with a BMI between 23-32, who haven't taken antibiotics in the last 3 months and are in good health. You will be willing to consume oats, a probiotic supplement, apple or cornflakes, and able to attend one 45 minute appointment, and two 7 hour appointments.
