An INSET course for
teachers of AS/A2 Level English Language
Monday 9th to Thursday
12th July 2007
We at the Department of Applied Linguistics are pleased to
announce the 5th INSET
course for teachers of AS/A2 Level English Language in July
2007. This year we are again sponsored by
Teachit, the online education resource for English, Drama and Media Studies
from primary to post-16.
This year, we are pleased to announce a session
with Tim Shortis and Julie Blake
sponsored by Teachit!
See below for
details.
Aim of the course
How does grammar really work? How does a child learn to use
language? Why does language change? How can we describe accents and
dialects? This course will address these questions, and more. Set up with the wishes of teachers in mind,
it is intended for teachers who feel they would like to learn more about
Linguistic and Applied Linguistic topics. We aim to cover a range of
these topics, and give information on resources available on line or in text book
form. As requested by teachers, no specific AS/A2 Level syllabus will
colour the content of the various topics on offer.
Praise for the course
"Highly
recommended."
"Daunting stuff made
accessible."
"Good for both
beginners and those wanting to strengthen their knowledge and understanding."
"All the courses were
aimed well to engage all participants and the resources used were accessible and
usable. I have very much benefited from the course and would definitely
recommend it to others wishing to revise previous knowledge or begin to navigate
the fascinating world of the English Language. I had a
brilliant time!"
