Life at CME

As a PhD student within Construction Management and Engineering, you will have the option to register as a full-time or part-time student, working at the University or in some circumstances working away from the University. There is a good community of PhD students and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to interact with them both socially and also to discuss your research. We have regular lunchtime seminars and an annual PhD conference involving research students and staff where you will have the opportunity to present and receive feedback on your work. We run a set of research skills training seminars within the School and you also have the opportunity to participate in the Graduate Skills Development Programme run by the Faculty of Science and Life Sciences. As a part-time and working-away student you will also have the opportunity to network with other PhD students and members of the academic staff making both valuable contacts and lasting friendships.
Approachable staff are always on hand to advise and assist you throughout your time at University and as a PhD student you are considered to be an important and integral member of the School.
