Construction Management and Engineering
At Reading we study the design, construction and operation of the buildings and places within which we live, work and play. We work across scales, from buildings to neighbourhoods to cities, spanning local and global, historic and contemporary built environments.
You can build and shape your future with us. Whether it's taking one of our degree courses, furthering your skills and experience through one of our postgraduate courses, or joining our team, you will be part of a top-ranking department, where the impact of our research feeds directly into our teaching.
"Coming to Reading was the best decision of my life. It offers the best of networking, exposure to industry, diversity, and knowledge."
renowned teaching and research
Established in 1972 as one of the first in our field, we are a respected, leading and innovative community at the very forefront of our discipline. Our academics are active researchers who incorporate their research – and its impact on industry – into their teaching, providing our students with access to cutting-edge thinking.
We are one of the UK's top-ranking institutions for Building, ranked 4th in the UK for Building in The Complete University Guide 2020, and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019.
We are also ranked 3rd in the UK for research impact in architecture, built environment and planning, in the most recent Research Excellence Framework assessment (Times Higher Education Institutions Ranked by Subject, 2014, based on its analysis of REF 2014).
Strong Relationships with industry
We help our students build up a strong network of industry contacts through our series of industry events and collaborations, enabling them to develop strong foundations for a sustainable career. Our focus goes beyond helping students to find a job - their personal network is key to their future.
We regularly host industry professionals and experts, who are actively engaged with our courses. They share current and topical insights into a range of industry areas, and are eager to network and connect with our students.
Connected, global community
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative global community of students, staff, alumni and partners.
Over the last five years we have welcomed students from over 65 countries, and our community of staff is currently comprised of individuals from over 20 countries.
