School Experts Contribute to Sustainable Construction Policy and Practice

RICS picture coverThe School of Construction Management and Engineering places great emphasis on research which has an impact on both policy and practice. Recently Professor John Connaughton, Professor Will Hughes and Professor Tim Dixon have all contributed to reports which have highlighted key policy and practice issues in sustainable construction.

The recently published RICS Sustainable Construction report discusses key issues and challenges concerning sustainable development in the construction sector and seeks to improve our understanding of the role of RICS members and their practices in an ever changing marketplace. John Connaughton and Tim Dixon, who are members of the RICS Sustainability Taskforce, authored the material on new build and existing buildings in the report.

RICS report coverThe All Party Parliamentary Group for Excellence in the Built Environment have also published a report on 'Re-energising the Green Agenda' which makes a number of policy recommendations for improving the Green Deal and other sustainable construction legislation. Both Will Hughes and Tim Dixon are mentioned in the report and a number of the School's recommendations form part of the report.

Professor Stuart Green, Head of School:

"These are great examples of the policy engagement we strive to achieve within the School. The experience and expertise of colleagues throughout the School is such that their views are often influential in shaping policy."
