International Women's Day: A Seminar with Chrissi McCarthy

Is gender balance the answer to the construction industry's problems?

Chrissi McCarthy

Join us as we host a seminar with Chrissi McCarthy for International Women's Day, designed to give real attention to the realities of women working in the construction sector. We believe that women have more to bring to the workplace than a skill set: we will consider how increased numbers of women can change the sector's image, reduce its adversarial culture and improve productivity.

We welcome Chrissi McCarthy, founder and managing director of Constructing Equality, whose mission is to create "a better construction industry by working with the stakeholders to build a sector that fully engages with employees, nurtures talent and drives profits." Chrissi has spent more than ten years in the Construction Industry and has completed a PGDip in Equality and Diversity.

Chrissi will discuss the gender balance issues that face STEM professions (with a focus on built environment professions), the benefits of greater gender balance and the role both men and women can play in strengthening the sector.

The seminar will be held on Wednesday 8th March 2017, 1-2pm in Room GO5, Miller Building. Refreshments will be served at 12.30pm. Admission is free and everyone is wInternationalWomensDayLogoelcome. If you are a member of staff please register in advance here.
