Environmental Assessment Methods-what can we learn? Report published.

Environmental-Report-coverOn 17 July 2013, the School of Construction Management and Engineering hosted a workshop exploring the current implementation of different Environmental Assessment Methods. Hosted in collaboration with BRE, the workshop brought together experts from across the industry, including architects, real estate providers, national and local government, management consultancies, and non-profit organisations, plus a range of universities. The event provided a platform for the sharing of experiences of different methods, and for discussing directions for future development.

A report has now been published, exploring insights and lessons from the workshop. Covering the themes of BREEAM, the Code for Sustainable Homes, and Sustainable Communities, it summarises the presentations and panel sessions from the day. These included concerns over the weak impact of BREEAM certification on market value; how to assess sustainable communities; and the role of consumer demand in the future of the Code of Sustainable Homes.
