I Don't Know What I am Doing
(Social Research in the Making)

There are two things you are better off not watching in the making: sausages and econometric estimates.

E. Leamer, "Let's Take the Con Out of Econometrics,"  American Economic Review, 1983, Vol. 73, No. 1, pp. 31-43, p. 36.

Autumn Term

Spring Term

The workshop is restricted to Sociology members of staff

During the Autumn and Spring terms (weeks 2 through 9) the Department runs a weekly research workshop series where members of staff present work in progress, the "unfinished product:" Book chapters or book proposals, drafts of journal articles, research proposals or ... just research ideas. The purpose is not so much to expose the sausage in our work, as to help members of staff bring the best out of their work, to build an exciting research culture in the department.

Manuscripts (when available) are circulated in advance for (hopefully written) comments from colleagues.

When? Wednesdays, 1:00-2:30 pm.

Where? FOL, Room 189

Keep an eye on this web page for the Autumn-term schedule
