Mr John Edmonds
Mr John Edmonds is a retired senior diplomat who was Ambassador and Leader of the UK
Delegation to the Comprehensive Test Ban Negotiations in Geneva from 1978- 1981.
Dr John Fraser
Dr John Fraser has taught at universities in Canada and Italy and he is the author of books
and is the author of An Introduction to the Thought of Galvano Delra
Volpe.
Dr Deborah K Goodwin
Conflict Resolution specialist
In her professional capacity as a Senior Lecturer/Special Responsibilities in the Department
of Communication and Management Studies, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, UK, Dr Goodwin has
access to worldwide operations to observe, monitor and analyse negotiation incidents in the field.
She was responsible for the introduction, development and delivery of negotiation/conflict resolution
training for all Army Officer Cadets at Sandhurst from 1994 onwards.
She is also a faculty member of the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre, Nova Scotia, Canada, and lectures
on their Negotiation for Peacekeepers course. She has guest lectured on the subject at the US Army
War College, Fort Bragg USA, Striking Fleet Atlantic: Norfolk, Virginia USA, the Folke Bernadotte
Academy Sweden, in Geneva, and at the Universities of Budapest, Oxford and Bradford amongst others.
She also trains NATO, EUFOR and UN personnel, as well as many civilian groups. She is a member of the
Academic Council on the United Nations System, and the Strategic and Combat Studies Institute. Also,
she is an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow in Peace Studies, University of Bradford.
Recent publications include: Goodwin, Deborah The Military and Negotiation (London: Frank Cass,
2005) and Goodwin, Deborah Negotiation in International Conflict (London: Frank Cass, 2001) and also
many recent papers and articles on conflict resolution and security issues.
Dr Stuart Gordon
Dr Stuart Gordon is a Senior Lecturer at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He is the author of
Alms and Armour (MUP, forthcoming) and a number of publications exploring the issues arising from
military-humanitarian responses to complex emergences.
Dr Charles Hauss
Dr Charles Hauss is a Professor of Politics at George Mason University, Virginia. He is a
specialist in comparative government and politics and is the author of Beyond
Confrontation: Transforming the New World Order as well as a number of
widely used textbooks on politics and international relations.
