Luke Harnesses (April 2006)

Since fitting the race seats I have not been happy with the three point harnesses I had. To begin with the waist adjuster was too close to the lower anchor point, so the adjuster ended up jammed down the side of the seat. This meant that I couldn’t adjust them without taking the seats out! Also the top straps rubbed against the side of the upper harness holes in the seats. They’re ok for now, but I’m sure they will start to fray if I leave them.

So I bought myself some very nice Luke harnesses with reversed waist adjuster very close to the centre buckle, bought four harness mounting brackets from Westfield, and booked the car in to have these welded in. Fitting the harnesses was pretty straightforward. The harnessses are now easily adjustable, more comfortable, fit the seats better and look pretty good to boot.

Also visible here are the carbon fibre stone guards on the rear wheel arches.

I now needed to make a new boot box cover as the old one has cut outs for a three point harness. So I used the old cover as a template, omitting the old harness bolt holes and adding new ones for the new harness bolts.

This’ll do till I can get some carbon fibre to do the job.
