Sold the Westfield and bought an Elise
After much soul searching I decided that I wanted something a
bit
more
refined than the Westfield. Given that I still want to do many track days and
possibly racing there is only one choice. An S1 Elise. I wanted either a cheap
111S, or a standard car in very good condition. In the end I got a bog standard
Lotus Racing Green car. It was a high miler (103,000 miles) but very little on
the car had done that sort of mileage. The engine had been replaced with a
27,000 mile engine in October 2006, the suspension, steering rack, wheel
bearings, brake disks and pads had all just been changed (at a cost of £2500!),
the bodywork was pretty good and the seats had been refurbished at Lotus (for
around £700) and looked gorgeous.
It had a Larini exhaust which sounded terrific, but was very
loud without the cat. The wheels could do with a refurb, but that could be done
for around £200, so I wasn't worried about that. Furthermore, because of the
high mileage the car was relatively cheap, so I would have quite a bit of spare
cash to get some work done on the engine, fit harnesses and get the wheels done.
So in March 2007 I purchased S7 SRH
Here's the seats after I fitted harnesses.
