The Candlestick

The Dog

Introduction
Each season, the excavations at Silchester produce thousands of finds. Of these, approximately 500 are Small Finds such as coins, stamped ceramics, whole pots and other interesting objects. All the Silchester finds are catalogued in a digital archive which is part of an archaeological database programme known as the Integrated Archaeological Database or IADB which was written and is maintained by Mike Rains at the York Archaeological Trust.

While the first stage of post-excavation analysis, which will include specialist reports on finds, is anticipated for 2001, some finds have already been examined, and short reports on some of them are included here. These include  a candlestick and the entire skeleton of a dog.
