POSTPONED: In Conversation with Dr Joanna Abeyie MBE
Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to postpone this event. We will be rescheduling for later in the year, so please do keep an eye on our events listing page for an update. We apologise for any inconvenience
Dr Joanna Abeyie MBE returns to the University of Reading for an in-depth discussion about diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace. Join our conversation with Joanna as we activate conclusions from the ‘If not now, then when?’ event in October 2020.Hosted by Professor Parveen Yaqoob (Deputy Vice-Chancellor) this virtual event seeks to turn words into action. We consider pressing topics which surround the development of diverse workspaces: determining challenges and difficulties in breaking boundaries to elevating underrepresented voices and providing pathways to progression. With reflections on external elements we also explore the effects of the Black Lives Matter movement and the global pandemic crisis in order to set practical goals.
An award-winning Reading alumni, Joanna brings a wealth of experience in helping organisations diversify their workforce and leadership to better represent society. She is founder of a series of recruitment and consultancy enterprises which have placed more than 3,000 people from diverse backgrounds into work, significantly improving representation of BAME and working-class talent in the sector.
All are welcome to engage with this virtual event. Creating a wholly inclusive workplace which provides an enriching experience for staff and students, requires robust culture change and collective commitment. Join this open platform to ask your questions, draw on Joanna's experiences and have your voice heard.
Rescheduled date to be announced soon
